Zahirah Kareem Obituary

Brandi Michelle Walker was born on August 2, 1974, in Kettering Ohio, and entered eternity on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the age of 49.  After taking her Shahada and becoming a Muslim, she chose the name Zahirah Sajda Kareem.

She was preceded in death by grandparents, Nead Walker, Sr., Edwina Anderson, Mr. & Mrs. Marvin Anderson and son Jabari Robinson.

Zahirah attended the Trotwood School Systems, and after graduating she worked at Moraine Assembly in Dayton Ohio for 11 years.  During her tenure there, she became a loving and proud mother.  In 1997 she conceived Akil Rashaad with Gahzee Abdul-Kareem.  In 2002, she gave birth to Tekeef Aryay with Akil Kontar Sr.  After leaving Moraine Assembly; 11 years later she welcomed into the world Xolani Ajabu with Jerry Robinson Jr.  She was affectionately known as mom to Akil Jr, and Jamilla Kontar.

Zahirah was a Queen of many trades.  She received a degree in Culinary Arts and Hospitality, and she loved to cook. With her mother and sister, they started a catering business known as Family Secrets.  She was also a representative for Tupperware and Thirty-One Gifts.  After moving to Columbus, Ohio she obtained her insurance license and worked with G.O.R.E.E. Insurance Agency.  Zahirah and family moved to Dallas, Texas where she began working with State Farm.  She resigned from State Farm to start G.O.R.E.E. Insurance Agency in Texas.  She was a phenomenal agent who cared about each and every one of her clients.  In her pastime she enjoyed reading, journaling, and listening to all genres of music but her most prideful accomplishment was being an amazing mother.

She brought a lot of love and inspiration to everyone that she encountered.  She accepted each person as they were and never had judgement.  She was a very spiritual person that studied and pursued God daily.  She loved to laugh and dance, and she lit up every room that she was in.

Loving memories are cherished by her mother Anita Walker, father Jackron Coleman, sister Lindsay Walker and brother Michael L. Coleman.  Her three children:  Akil Abdul-Kareem, Tekeef Abdul-Kareem and Xolani Robinson. Honorable mention of her sister-friends: Carla, Mary, Engja, Jasmine, Tyra, Dana, Roni, Mara and Ma-Wusi .  She is also survived by a host of favorite cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved her and will be dearly missed by those that knew her.
